Thrissur: The Kerala High Court has granted bail to CPM leader PR Aravindakshan in the sensational Karuvannur Bank scam case. The court also granted bail to another suspect, PK Jilse. The court ruled that the suspect in the money laundering case does not have to remain in pre-trial detention.




The court’s decision to grant bail comes as the trial in the case continues.

Earlier, the High Court had rejected several bail applications of the duo. However, Aravindakshan had been granted interim bail earlier, following which he has now been granted permanent bail.




The Supreme Court has issued strict guidelines regarding the criteria for bail in money laundering cases. However, the Supreme Court clarified that the involvement of Aravindakshan and Jilse in this case does not fall within the ambit of these guidelines.
